Welcome to the Visual Cognition Lab at Christopher Newport University!

The Visual Cognition Lab is a part of the Neuroscience Program, located in Forbes Hall.

Research in the lab uses psychophysical techniques and computer modeling to understand how the brain collects and integrates visual information in order to make complex decisions. Currently, we are conducting experiments that explore the role of spatial versus featural information in face recognition, that examine eye movements during social decisions and unfamiliar cultural interactions, that measure the influence of curvature and spacing on contour integration, and that manipulate the interaction of emotion and perception in object recognition.
